Art work by young people

We’ve been using the holiday season to run some groups with young people who are starting to be abusive with their families.  This is a growing area of our work and over the last year, over 100 families have been referred to us for support through our ‘Respect programme’.

The programme focuses on helping the young person change their behaviour and re-building their relationships with mum, dad and siblings.  Normally we do this on a one to one basis but we thought we’d trial a group. The fact that young people are sharing their experiences with each other, challenging each other’s views and also taking time to just relax and chat seems to be having a really positive effect and of the 6 who started the group we’ve had no-one drop out. Here are some pictures from the group.
