Home Office Logo

A new law targeting psychological bullies who control and manipulate their partners comes into force today. This is aimed to plug gaps in the law and covers acts such as blocking your partner from accessing bank accounts, limiting someone’s access to family and friends, making threats to reveal private information and taking or hiding your partner’s car keys or passport to stop them travelling. The impacts of psychological abuse have been misunderstood and under-estimated in the past and IDAS fully welcomes this change.  We will continue to support anyone who is experiencing any form of abuse be it psychological, physical, financial or sexual abuse.
