A refuge is a safe place for you and your children. At our refuges in York and Harrogate we only take women and their children, but if you are a man escaping violence we can find you alternative accommodation.
All refuges are different in terms of the accommodation offered. In York and Harrogate we provide private bedrooms with their own bathrooms, shared kitchens and other communal facilities.
Our refuges have basic rules - mainly to protect confidentiality - but women can generally come and go as they please. Some women continue to work while they are staying with us.
